In the spring of 2002, Chicago artist Catherine Trzybinski asked, “How can I help people explore perspectives and possibilities of peace?” Soon she decided to start an ambitious effort to build a never-ending, growing book about peace – a way for people to share ideas with one another.

During the following year, she established a papermaking and book production studio. And with the help of friends, colleagues and mentors, the concept took shape as the Open Book Peace Project (OBPP). In May, 2003, book production began and by June the first participants had contributed pages. Since then, the OBPP has traveled to schools, community centers, art galleries -- anywhere people are interested in participating.

Thank you all for helping make this peace book grow!
