Because your message is unique - OBPP aims to offer you paper that reflects this. Through the process of hand papermaking - every page is different and special. The OBPP utilizes the recycling of donated old used clothing and waste paper to emphasize the importance of transforming waste into beauty, our connection to each other's daily lives and our environment.

During the OBPP Papermaking Marathons people are invited to disperse peace mementos into the paper making process - writings on leaves, shredded money, sparkles and dried flowers - each page has a story onto itself.

The following pictures will give you a glimpse of how the OBPP book is made through the process of hand papermaking, bookbinding and custom carving rubber stamps.

The first OBPP papermaking marathon happened at the Columbia College Center for Book and Paper Chicago Jan. 2004. 15 people from Michigan, Iowa and Illinois came and helped make 518 new sheets for the book.

On June18, 2004 The Quad City Arts Center of Rock Island, Illinois sponsored an outdoor OBPP papermaking marathon.

The OBPP is hand bound in an unusual way using both a vertical and a horizontal stitch

Visit again later because there are at least a dozen pictures of hand papermaking and bookbinding as well as detailed instructions we hope to post in the future.
